Thinking about purchasing a juicer? You can make a juicer out of the washing machine with your own hands - we will tell you how to do it. You will receive an apparatus for processing fruits and vegetables into homemade juices almost free of charge, and you will also find the use of an old washing machine.
Design advantages
If you have an old, unnecessary washing machine with a working centrifuge, consider that you have found a use for it.
The essence of the standard juicer is that fruits and vegetables are thrown into a special hole. It should be wide enough for a whole apple, pear and other fruits. Then the fruits fall into a centrifuge, at the bottom of which there is a grater. After grinding, the juice is squeezed.
The advantages of the washing machine as a co-juicer are that the volume of its drum exceeds the capacity of conventional appliances. And if you use an engine that produces 1,500 rpm, then you can quickly and efficiently chop the fruits and get 10-20 liters of juice per hour.
Instructions on how to make a juicer at home
You can make a juicer yourself from any automatic washing machine - with front or vertical loading. The main thing is that there should be a belt drive, since a direct-drive model will not work.
If you have a front-loading washing machine, you have to put it on your back, with the hatch up.
Preparation for work
First, remove all parts that are no longer needed from the machine body: pump, pressure switch, intake valve, drain filter and control panel.
To facilitate the work will help pre-prepared drawings and drawings. So you can consistently perform all the actions, referring to the scheme.
Prepare the necessary details:
- two metal grids measuring 30x6 cm;
- 3 mm bolts with nuts;
- utensils for collecting juice;
- drain pipe;
- rubber plugs.
You will also need tools:
- screwdrivers and wrenches;
- Bulgarian;
- welding machine;
- drill;
- pliers;
- a hammer;
- scissors for metal.
Before putting the machine, prepare the bar-stands on which it will be fixed.
Prepare the housing for alteration
How to do it:
To create a juicer at home, it is advisable to take a drum from a stainless steel. However, a plastic drum is also suitable.
- All holes in the drum must be welded, as they are too large.
- Drill many small holes around the perimeter of the drum.
- Now reassemble the tank by screwing in the screws. If the tank was not separable, you need to prepare holes for screws in advance.
Put the tank back into the body, replace the sealing rubber and shock absorbing springs.
Modify the drum
Since for the manufacture of a juicer you yourself will need most of the parts from the washer, it will cost you almost free of charge. But for the drum to become a complete chopper for apples and other fruits, it needs to be finalized.
Make a grater. The fact is that the holes located on the surface of the drum are too large. They will turn fruits into mashed potatoes, not juice. Therefore, take the prepared strips of mesh, install them in a circle, between the ribs of the drum. Fasten the net in place with small screws. If necessary, you can remove the grid and clean.
To grind fruits and vegetables will help the rebeller, which must be further sharpened. Do not forget to attach a nozzle to the drain hole. The design is ready, it remains to connect the motor.
Since the control panel is removed as unnecessary, you will have to connect an additional switch.
To properly connect the engine, you need to act on the electrical circuit. We have already described this in other articles, so watch the related video:
How does a homemade juicer work
After connecting, check the device: if the drum rotates evenly, how firmly the housing is fixed. This is important because it will be unpleasant if the body rolls over with the fruit due to vibration.
Now wash the fruits and load whole fruits through the loading hatch. No need to fill the drum to capacity, otherwise the fruit will not be chopped, and the device may be damaged. Place a container for collecting juice under the drain pipe.
Run the centrifuge for 2-3 minutes. Rotating at the spin speed, the fruits will break on the drum, which will contribute to the rebuillers. After the fruit porridge through the grater will flow into the drain pipe, and then into the container.
In one hour you can get from 10 to 12 liters of juice. In this case, you do not need to cut, peel the fruits, just wash and fill them in the drum.
Pay attention to the type of fruit: if it’s apples, pears and other hard fruits, they should be covered with no more than half. While soft fruits and berries (plums, grapes, strawberries) can fill a larger tank.
So, unnecessary equipment will bring even more benefits than the new device. Converting a washing machine into a juicer is not difficult. And most importantly - cheap, because you will need a minimum of additional components.
