If you have a modern washing machine, you noticed: when the water intake began, the hatch door cannot be opened. This is due to the operation of the hatch lock - UBL. Thanks to this device you can not worry about the safety of washing.
But what if the washing machine door lock does not work? We will tell you how you can independently check and replace the CM lock.
How the device works
UBL is a hatch blocking device that is powered by electricity. Electricity is supplied to the bimetallic plate, as a result of which it heats up and bends. During deformation, the plate exerts pressure on the lever, which closes the door. The door closure sensor works, so the hatch will be closed while washing is in progress.
Some users suggest that the door lock on the washing machine is broken, because they cannot open it right after the cycle ends. This is not so: the device specifically opens with a delay so that all the water drains from the tank.
When can I talk about a breakdown
- After half an hour or more, the door does not open.
- The door does not close. The washing process does not start.
- The malfunction code is displayed on the washer display.
Why is this happening? There are two main reasons for a hatch lock failure:
- Natural wear of the plates, their unsuitability for work.
- Burnout of contacts, violation of wiring as a result of short circuit, mechanical damage.
How to check and change the lock on the washing machine, read on.
Step-by-step inspection and replacement
To accurately verify the malfunction, the UBL must be checked. We will tell you how to remove the lock for this. Proceed sequentially:
- Unplug the machine by unplugging the plug.
- Turn the inlet valve shut off the water.
- Open the door.
Complexity may arise at this stage. If the hatch is locked in the closed position, you will first need to open it.
Do this:
- Tilt the SM housing on its side.
- Run your hand under the bottom of the machine. If your washer has a bottom, first unscrew the screws and remove it.
- Put your hand inward to the locking device.
- Try to push the latch and open the door.
By the way, you can do the same through the top of the washer. You will need to remove the top cover by unscrewing the two bolts at the back. Having turned the AGR back, stick your hand in and open the lock.
Fine! Now you can start dismantling and replacing the lock on the hatch of the washing machine:
- To remove the sealing rubber of the hatch, bend its edge. Behind her is a clamp.
It can be plastic - in this case, release the latches and remove it. If the metal clamp, then pry it with a flat screwdriver and remove.
- Insert the cuff inside the drum.
- Remove the two bolts holding the lock.
- Put your hand into the hatch behind the body and remove the lock. It is held only by wires.
- Take a picture of the location of the wiring, expand the connections.
Now the device is in your hands. Let's start checking it.
Self check lock
To check the tester or multimeter, you will need to acquire an electronic circuit of the lock. Without it, you cannot distinguish between contacts.
So, if the scheme is with you, get to work:
- Set the tester to resistance measurement mode.
- Connect the test leads to the neutral and phase contacts.
- If a three-digit number is displayed on the scoreboard, the lock is operational.
- Rearrange the probes to neutral and common contacts.
- Did the tester show 0 or 1? Then everything is all right.
How to change the door lock on the washing machine in case of malfunction? We must say right away: it cannot be repaired, and it is inexpensive. Therefore, you need to specify the brand and model of the CMA in the store, or show the removed lock to the seller.
Once you have purchased a new part:
- Connect the wires according to the photo or marking.
- Install the part in the mounting hole, tighten the bolts.
- Put the cuff back in place, put on the clamp.
Now you know how to replace the UBL lock of the washing machine. Be careful and do not forget about safety.
